Here's What We're Done With
Another AI workshop where someone reads slides about "best practices." Another certificate you can post on LinkedIn without proving you learned a damn thing. Another expert who collected a badge but can't actually do anything with AI.
Colorado's got enough of that noise.
Here's What We're Building Instead
February 28 is the day Colorado gets its hands dirty with AI. Not in a conference room listening to someone talk about tools. In your local library, school, or coffee shop, actually using them.
You'll walk in, build something real, and walk out with proof you can show your neighbor, your boss, or that kid down the street who thinks you're a dinosaur.
No panels. No spectators. Only work that helps real people.
What Actually Happens
Morning: Quick check-in to set your baseline.
During the Day: Work at staffed proof stations to capture before-and-after receipts. Show what you built, record what you learned, and have a neighbor or facilitator verify it.
End of day: You leave with a short set of receipts tied to real outcomes.
Seven days later: We check back. Show one example of how you used it again. If you did, your record is marked as sustained, not just one-day.
Why This Matters
Because we're tired of the performance.
Everyone's got "AI Expert" in their LinkedIn bio these days. Most of them can't write a prompt worth a ... They chased the credential but skipped the capability.
This event is for people who'd rather show receipts than flex titles. Who trust what their neighbor built over what some consultant claims. Who want to be the person in their town that actually knows this stuff when someone asks.
Titles travel faster than skills. This day flips that. We celebrate people who can show useful outcomes in their real lives and communities. That is how capability spreads.
The Stakes
Minimum win: 100+ Coloradans walk out of February 28 with something real they did. Helped a neighbor understand their medical paperwork. Finally organized that mess they've been avoiding. Made something easier they do every week. And they're proud enough to tell someone about it.
Big audacious win: Colorado becomes the state where "proof, not fluff" is the default. Where telling someone how you actually used AI to help your family is cooler than posting about a certificate. Where your county's AI know-how becomes something neighbors swap at the coffee shop like they swap hiking trail secrets.
We're shooting for a full culture shift—from performance to proof.
One Million Minutes
That's the statewide practice goal. Ten thousand people, each doing 100 minutes of real hands-on work.
We're not counting butts in seats or attendance badges. We're counting verified practice time—check-in when you start, check-out when you finish, and only the time you actually spent working.
Your county gets credit. The state gets smarter. You get better.
What You Get Out of This
- AI Moment: the click when a tool solves a real task you brought.
- Receipts: peer-verified proof of what you built or learned.
- Your People: local circle to keep practicing with after the day.
- Next steps: a verified directory of courses, meetups, jobs and projects in your county.
The Timeline That Matters
- Now – February: Register so we know you're coming.
- January 15: The curriculum drops for public review. Instructors get verified. You can take the baseline assessment anytime.
- February 15: Full map of hubs and schedules goes live.
- February 28: Game day. Show up. Build something. Walk out different.
This Is a Friendly Coup
We're not asking permission to make AI education better. We're just doing it.
Join us February 28 and bring your neighbors. Let's prove Colorado knows how to learn something real.
